Scholarship programs a big success at Lake Tahoe Community College
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 08/24/2013 - 4:43amThe numbers are in: Lake Tahoe Community College’s scholarship program had its most successful year ever in 2012/13, helping more students to reach their academic goals than ever before. In June 2013, the college handed out $81,000 in scholarship dollars: the most in the college’s history.
All of those dollars will help 66 LTCC students to continue their education, providing much-needed funds to cover the costs of tuition, textbooks, and other resources necessary to academic success.
South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic at Tahoe Keys

One of the largest gatherings of unique boats in Northern California is the South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic, July 26-27, at Tahoe Keys Marina and Yacht Club.
Boat enthusiasts can get an up close look at the vessels, talk with their owners and hear the powerful roar behind straight V6, V8 and V12 engines. From the early 1900s to the fiberglass vessels of the 1960s, enthusiasts can see more than 65 wooden antique and classic boats in the water and eight race boats on their trailers.

Boat Inspections at Lake Tahoe move to fall and winter ramp schedules

Boat inspections and decontaminations will still be available at the Alpine, Spooner and Meyers stations until Sept. 30, 2012.

Three weeks away from hitting a target goal to produce his first solo CD, veteran South Lake Tahoe musician Jesse Kalin is inviting the community to special night gathering of music and friends at the Fresh Ketch, from 6 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.
Kalin will be performing with his band Cool Black Kettle during the special night appearance. A raffle, and plenty of music are in store. The Fresh Ketch is located at 2435 Venice Dr., South Lake Tahoe in the Tahoe Keys Marina.

Lake Tahoe luxury yacht sinks at dock

On Monday morning, the Sierra Rose sat partially submerged at its prominent location near the mouth of the Tahoe Keys Marina. The lowest level of the 86-foot yacht was completely underwater, while the second level of the vessel was partially submerged.

Tahoe Boat Inspections Move Back to Launch Ramps for Fall and Winter

Beginning Oct. 1, Tahoe boat inspections will move to select launch ramps and winter hours will begin. Tahoe Resource ConservatioN District inspectors will do inspections and decontaminations at Cave Rock and Lake Forest boat launches from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week, and inspections only (no decontaminations) are available at Sand Harbor, Thursday through Monday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Safari Rose Sunset Wine Cruise

The event, which begins at the Tahoe Keys Marina, will feature wines and appetizers donated by local businesses. The cost is $55 discounted tickets but you have to hurry though because there are only 50 passenger tickets available.
