A Tribute to the boats of Robert Stanley Dollar, Jr.

Imagine that five of the boats that were either raced by Stan Dollar Jr. or enjoyed by his family are still in existence and can be seen by YOU! The South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic will have both on land and in the water 6 boats that were piloted by R. Stanley Dollar Jr. and his family since the 1920's. Join us on July 27th and 28th at the Tahoe Keys Marina & Yacht Club to experience these amazing treasures.

R. Stanley Dollar, Jr., grandson of Captain Dollar, Stan to his friends, was barely a teenager at 13 when he piloted and raced his first boat. He was hooked instantly! It was the start of a boating legend that would span 4 decades and extend past the Tahoe basin to world-wide racing venues. Several of his boats are still in existence and at least four of them will be at our show. Come and see Tamarack, Baby Skipalong, Mercury, Dispatch and others on July 27th and 28th.

Also this year, in addition to over 20 different boat manufacturers from the 1920's to the 1970's, we'll have more of those great '60's drag boats to see on land as well as in the water. Berthed in Tahoe Keys Marina slips with 8' wide walkways, visitors will enjoy viewing 70 antique and classic wood boats and talking with their owners. This show is just as much fun for the boat owners as it is for visitors!

Under the tents at the Marina, visitors will enjoy the day as they stroll through sponsor and charities booths experiencing live music by Kris Diehl and his Dixieland band, learn about homes and condo's for rent in Tahoe Keys at the Tahoe Keys Resort booth, enjoy tastings of Korbel California Champagnes, buy a fantastic BBQ lunch with Pacifico beer available to wash it down, the Honey Bee Ice Cream truck and a face painter to name a few. Very popular commemorative T-shirts and other mementos of the day will be available for purchase in the Antique & Classic Boat Society's Ships Store as visitors head down to the docks to see the Dollar boats and our antique wooden treasures & classic fiberglass boats.

In the four prior years of this ACBS sponsored show, we have granted over $40,000 to charities in the Lake Tahoe community. This year five local charities will each be granted $2,500. checks on Sunday at our Awards Picnic at Sugar Pine Point State Park. Thank you in advance to everyone who comes to the show because your entry fee will contribute to our charitable donations.
