Drivers in town might have seen the blinking arrows, informing runners of the route. Others in town reported seeing the bonfires and groups of people stationed where runners were changed. The Beachcomber Inn housed one team for a quick nap and shower before they headed to the finish.

The shop features unique gifts and home decor.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature wine and appetizers. Welcome Home will pay the sales tax on any items purchased at the time.

Waterline Project in the State Streets Area of South Lake Tahoe; Tahoe Keys Traffic Impacts

This project will improve water quality, quantity, pressures and, most importantly, will enhance firefighting capability in the State Streets neighborhood. The project will consist of installation of a 12” main on Tahoe Keys Blvd. and 6” mains on Idaho Ave., Wyoming Ave., Montana Ave., Utah Ave., Colorado Ave., Arizona Ave., Texas Ave., and Jeffery St. In addition to the water mains, fire hydrants will be installed at approximately 500 foot intervals to provide better fire protection.

At Tuesday's City Council meeting, Jim Marino, the City's Assistant Public Works Director, outlined all 13 different projects happening within city limits this year.

Authorities Seek Dog That Bit South Lake Tahoe Man
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/18/2014 - 8:10pmA South Lake Tahoe man was bit by a dog on Sunday while walking near Washington Avenue and Tahoe Keys Blvd. At about 6 p.m., the unidentified man encountered a dog roaming in the neighborhood and was bit as he attempted to read the dog's tags.
The dog is described as a husky type dog with grey and white fluffy fur, wearing a blue collar and tags.
The man was treated and released from medical care but will have to undergo post exposure rabies treatments if authorities cannot verify that the dog is current on its rabies vaccines.

South Tahoe High Homecoming Parade

A week of homecoming festivities at South Tahoe High begins on Saturday, September 28 with the annual parade through town. At 10 am the parade will begin at the LTUSD bus garage on Al Tahoe Boulevard and head along Highway 50 to the high school.
Trucks full of students, cars carrying alumni, cheerleaders, teams, the pep band and more will join the parade route.
The South Tahoe High Alumni Foundation has planned the event which will also include members of the classes of 1963, 1964, 1966, 1968 and 1973.
Tahoe Boat Inspections Move Back to Launch Ramps for Fall & Winter

Tahoe RCD (Resource Conservation District) inspectors will be stationed at Cave Rock and Lake Forest boat launches from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week, weather permitting. Boats with attached Lake Tahoe wire inspection seals and valid Tahoe inspection stickers will be permitted to launch during these times, but any unsealed boats are required to get an inspection during daylight hours.

Scholarship programs a big success at Lake Tahoe Community College

In June 2013, the college handed out $81,000 in scholarship dollars: the most in the college’s history.
All of those dollars will help 66 LTCC students to continue their education, providing much-needed funds to cover the costs of tuition, textbooks, and other resources necessary to academic success.

One of the largest gatherings of unique boats in Northern California is the South Tahoe Wooden Boat Classic, July 26-27, at Tahoe Keys Marina and Yacht Club.
Boat enthusiasts can get an up close look at the vessels, talk with their owners and hear the powerful roar behind straight V6, V8 and V12 engines. From the early 1900s to the fiberglass vessels of the 1960s, enthusiasts can see more than 65 wooden antique and classic boats in the water and eight race boats on their trailers.
South Lake Tahoe emergency responders rescue man drowning at Tahoe Keys
Submitted by Editor on Sat, 07/20/2013 - 9:17pmA man who nearly drowned earlier this week at Lake Tahoe in the Tahoe Keys owes his life to those who saw him struggle and dialed 911, and members of the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and El Dorado County Search and Rescue team that swam in and saved him.
Witnesses on Monday saw the man in trouble while he was swimming near the boat docks and called 911. South Lake Tahoe Fire Department responded and was escorted out to where the man was seen swimming, said Fire Chief Bruce Martin.
