Forests, campgrounds and day-use areas to close in California and Lake Tahoe Basin

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - All campgrounds and day use areas on U.S. Forest Service land in California and the Lake Tahoe Basin must close at 5:00 p.m. Monday, September 7 due to the unprecedented and dangerous fire conditions and extreme heat, significant wind events, dry conditions, and firefighting resources that are stretched to the limit.

The USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region has announced the following temporary closures and fire restrictions to provide for public safety and reduce the potential for human caused fire starts:

SLT City Council meeting to include construction allocations, camping regulations

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Tuesday's evening meeting of the South Lake Tahoe City Council will have a full agenda that includes replacement of aging snow removal equipment, a Lime License Agreement, and temporary suspension of the City's Residential Allocation Procedures.

City adds another location for electric car owners to charge up

Visitors to South Lake Tahoe have several options to charge their cars, with the newest location added in the City owned Heavenly Village parking garage.

The City partnered with ChargePoint, the largest electric vehicle charging station company, and added a system on the first floor of the garage near the elevator. Users will need to have an account with ChargePoint.

Tahoe Valley Campground celebrates 40th anniversary with party

As the camping season of 2015 draws to an end, Tahoe Valley Campground will celebrate over 40 years in business with a Tahoe Chamber ribbon cutting ceremony, barbecue and horseshoe tournament on October 22 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The community is invited to attend.

“We are very proud to celebrate another successful summer here at Tahoe Valley Campground,” Resort Manager Duane Jakob said. “We are so happy to be part of this community for the past 40 years and look forward to the future as the South Shore continues to be a world renowned destination.”

Tahoe Mountain Faire set for August 11-12

Music, food, contests and an all-round weekend centered around the hometown will be featured at the Tahoe Mountain Faire, August 11-12 at the Tahoe Valley Campground, 175 Melba Drive in South Lake Tahoe.
Weekend festivities will feature food, games, a pie-eating contest and live music both days. Faire sponsors include the Pine Cone Acre Motel, Grocery Outlet, the Tahoe Area Coordinating Council for the Disabled, Golden Bear Events, KTHO AM 590 and FM 96.1, KRLT, 93.9 The Lake and the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce.

If the TTD took the $70 Million that they say it will cost to build the loop road and fix up the area they would still have enough over to give us a free bus system like most of the other resort towns. They are not alleviating any traffic flows or amount of cars only diverting them faster to Nevada. How is diverting the traffic helping the traffic situation, we will still have the same amount of cars on the road. I have said this before about other things done to us by our Government agency’s doing what’s best for them and us(mostly them).
