Greenbelt plans for South Lake Tahoe unveiled, public asked to comment
Submitted by paula on Tue, 12/20/2016 - 9:18amNow that the Tahoe Valley Area Plan has been approved for the Y area of South Lake Tahoe, plans are moving forward to create a greenbelt area that would improve connectivity, create more biking, walking and play space, as well as implementing stormwater improvements to keep Tahoe blue, and the community green.
Tahoe Valley Area Plan and single room rental ordinance on City Council agenda
Submitted by paula on Mon, 06/01/2015 - 8:30amThe South Lake Tahoe City Council has a full agenda for their Tuesday, June 2 meeting at the airport.
After several public forums, meetings and presentations, the council will be deciding to adopt the Tahoe Valley Area Plan, which is the vision for the area around the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe. The City starting working on the plan in January of 2014, after the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) adopted the Regional Plan update at the end of 2012.

The City of South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission will be considering adoption of the Tahoe Valley Area Plan and amending the City Zoning Ordinance to allow for outdoor display of specialized recreation equipment at their May 14 meeting.
Also on the agenda is an ordinance concerning South Lake Tahoe outdoor craft fairs.
The meeting is in the City Council chambers at the airport at 3 p.m.
Factory Stores sold; New owner plans major improvements
Submitted by paula on Fri, 01/09/2015 - 7:18pmRenovate, improve, contemporize and rebrand. That is what Burke Fathy says Sutter Capital Group plans to do with the former Factory Stores at the Y.
"The property needs to be repositioned," said Fathy, a partner with Sutter, told South Tahoe Now. "We are going to rebrand it from a factory store and make it more mixed tenant and give it new life."
The Sacramento investment group recently purchased the center after it fell into bankruptcy after years of mismanagement, Fathy said.

The Rich History of South Lake Tahoe's Barton Ranch
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 06/20/2014 - 2:41pmHaving recently read an article about the owners of the Barton Ranch property planning to tear down all the buildings as they rot and decay for the advancement of the Tahoe Valley Plan I felt I had to reply. Although I haven't read over that plan I am aware of the rich history of the Barton family who are clearly one of Lake Valley's founding families.
Full City Council Agenda on Tuesday Including Tahoe Wellness Cooperative's Event Permit Appeal

Council will meet in closed session at 8 a.m. on anticipated litigation. The regular meeting will be called to order at 9 a.m.

The result of months of work and public input on the Tahoe Valley Area Plan will be unveiled at the South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting on Tuesday, April 15. There are three concepts that were discussed during previous workshops and presented to the Planning Commission on March 13: A Greenbelt Concept, A Town Center District and a Healthcare Campus District.

A public workshop on the vision for the South "Y" area will be held on Thursday, February 27 in the South Lake Tahoe City Council chambers at 6 p.m.
Future planning and land use guidance for what is known as the Tahoe Valley Area Plan will be discussed as the City's project leaders seek input from the community as to what the area should be.
The Tahoe Valley Plan reflects the City’s effort to rekindle the economic vitality and spirit of the Tahoe Valley Community and to enhance the area's unique characteristics.
