Entries accepted for 5th annual Lake Tahoe WordWave one-act play competition

Entries are open now for the fifth annual Lake Tahoe WordWave One-Act Play Competition, a Valhalla Tahoe event. Three winners of the play competition will each receive a $500 cash prize and a 2-night stay to see their work directed and produced as a staged reading at the historic Valhalla Boathouse Theatre at the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe on Sept. 14, 2019.

The Tall Timber Ball; Steampunk in the Woods

Dust off your bowler hat, lace up your high-heeled boots...it's time for the second annual Tall Timber Ball! On Friday, October 21, style it steampunk and have fun under the timber beams of the Grand Hall while DJ Damien spins from the massive stone fireplace.

The Steampunk Gala is to benefit the literary festival,Tahoe WordWave. Champagne reception with the literary festival's keynote speaker, Galadrielle Allman will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a dance party "in the pines" along with appetizers, beer and wine from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Tahoe WordWave, a Festival of Story returns to the South Shore

The second annual WordWave Festival will take place October 21-23, 2016, on the shore of South Lake Tahoe at the Tallac Historic Site. Some of the most creative and inspiring writers, musicians, and performers from around the country will be on the South Shore to share their talents at this three-day event. The festival will be interactive, featuring readings, workshops, panels, plays, open mics, guided hikes, and oral storytelling.

Tahoe WordWave: Inaugural literary festival gaining national attention

Get ready for Tahoe WordWave, a literary event the likes of which has never before been seen in South Lake Tahoe, and the rest of the country is taking note.

Modeled after San Francisco's LitQuake, organizers of Tahoe WordWave have gathered creative and inspiring writers, musicians, and performers from around the country to share their talents over a three day experience at Tallac Historic Site. The festival will be interactive, featuring readings, workshops, plays, open mics, guided hikes, and oral storytelling.

Free kid's activities at inaugural Word Wave festival

An interactive, and free, book festival will be held at Valhalla on October 10, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and some activities are meant for kids.

Tahoe Wordwave will have several opportunities for the younger set to get creative, from bookmaking and printmaking to a novel writing camp. There will also be book arts, poetry, travel writing, fiction and songwriting workshops.

Bestselling author Garth Stein to appear in South Lake Tahoe

Internationally bestselling author Garth Stein, whose book “The Art of Racing in the Rain” has sold more than 4 million copies and been published in 35 languages, will appear at Tahoe WordWave Oct. 9-11 at the Tallac Historic Site in South Lake Tahoe. His newest book, “A Sudden Light,” is set in a large historic house in the woods similar to Valhalla’s Grand Hall, the site of WordWave’s Friday night steampunk ball, held from 6-10 pm, kicking off with a Champagne reception with Stein.
