Troy Loggins scored an early power-play goal, Brandon Tabakin added a shorthanded tally in the second, and netminder Jesper Vikman made 33 saves to lead Tahoe to victory.

Name: Aimi Xistra, Director of Development, Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe. She has been living in South Lake Tahoe for almost 30 years - since 1997. The beautiful mountains and lake, lots of snow, opportunity, and fun community brought her to Tahoe.

Why are you running for City Council and what are your qualifications?

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - For the current 2024/25 school year, Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) has made some organizational changes to better serve special needs students and staff.

Elizabeth Shepherd*, the former director of Student Services and Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), is now focusing solely on SELPA as the Director of Tahoe-Alpine SELPA, while Brenna Dillman has been promoted to Student Services/Special Education Coordinator for the district.

Through your support of the Optimist Club of South Lake Tahoe’s fundraising events, Day in Paradise and the Christmas Tree Lot, last year we raised and distributed over $50,000 back to the youth of this community. Some of the funds went to The Boy’s and Girl’s Club playground equipment replacement, Ski Run neighborhood park, Drug Store Project, special teacher projects, youth sports, Club Live, and the newly created Junior Optimist Club at the High School.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Jessica Morse, candidate for Congress, will be at Cuppa Tahoe on Friday to meet with the community, answer questions, and explain her focus. The Democrat is seeking the seat for District 3 which runs along the Sierra from Redding to Death Valley, including South Lake Tahoe. She is scheduled to be there from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Polio is a disease caused by the poliovirus and is easily spread from person to person, making it one of the most widespread viruses worldwide until 2014. The polio vaccine is an excellent example of how a focused objective can have a worldwide impact and change the lives of millions of people.

Every couple of years and every major election cycle, voters are inundated with political ads, the usual talking points, and ballot measures.

While some ballot measures are necessary, the default position we as voters should take is ‘Why am I being asked to vote on this now?' We should always assume that ballot measures are a last resort to circumvent the normal political processes we have in place and rely on, to serve our community day in and day out.

Around this time each year, people start getting anxious for the first snowfall. There’s a sense of anticipation humming just below the surface of every conversation and every weather report. You may find yourself staring longingly at your skis or board that has sat dormant since last spring. It’s an anxious, excited feeling – a good one.

On a warm and sun-splashed Saturday in early July, 100 pickleball players gathered at Tahoe Paradise Park in Meyers for the second annual Pinkleball in Paradise tournament.

This spirited fundraiser is dedicated to raising money for local and national cancer support and research organizations, with an emphasis on breast cancer organizations. This year’s event set a record fundraising total of $17,352.

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. – The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) Governing Board has voted unanimously to offer the position of General Counsel to attorney Graham St. Michel. He will oversee compliance cases, violation settlements, and other legal issues for the bi-state agency. He will fill the position held by the retiring John L. Marshall, who has served as TRPA counsel for 25 years.

The Nevada Day Parade returns this Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024! There will be a hot air balloon launch at 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. The military fly-over will signal the start of the parade, which begins at William Street and N. Carson Street and ends four hours later at the intersection of Stewart Street and S. Carson Street. The parade features marching bands, floats, equestrian groups, historical displays, Burning Man art cars, and much more.

The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. The Grand Marshall this year is country singer Lacy J. Dalton.

They’re back again for the second coming of Guilty Christmas. Yes, the characters from the long-running Guilty Pleasures are back in a winter show with newly updated sketches and songs in a fast-paced comic musical written specifically for the Tahoe audience, both local and visitor alike. Time has gone by since the group had served their community service together but all the characters remain. Older, (though perhaps not wiser), they are ready to get together again, and this time they are doing a Christmas show.

South Lake Tahoe City Council candidates were recently given the opportunity to answer some questions to be published on South Tahoe Now. Candidate Nick Speal said he did not receive the emailed questions, so we have given him the opportunity to answer them.
