To streamline the review and deliberation of items crucial to the Lake Tahoe Regional Plan Update, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board on Wednesday chartered a new committee to focus on update of the Plan.
The formation of this committee comes on the heels of the annual Lake Tahoe Summit where federal and state representatives urged swift completion of the plan update.

Lake Tahoe Community College has been awarded a five-year federal grant designed to provide academic support for 500 low-income, first generation college-bound students from South Tahoe Middle School and South Tahoe High. The Department of Education grant will be consist of five annual payments of about $230,000 each, said LTCC spokeswoman Christina Proctor. The college was informed it had been awarded the grant by the offices of California Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. 

Three Reno news organizations are teaming up to provide a debate tonight, two days before early voting begins for the Congressional District 2 Special Election. The League to Save Lake Tahoe and the city of South Lake Tahoe are engaged in a tennis match worthy of the U.S. Open. A volley of charges and counter-charges have been flying back and forth regarding the League's recent lawsuit againt the city over the city's recently adopted general plan.
