New South Shore Local Coffee Treat: The Bean Bar Coffee House

The Bean Bar has been open on the south shore of Lake Tahoe since December and has already become a favorite of both South Lake Tahoe locals and visitors.

Located in the Round Hill Shopping Center, the Bean Bar is open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for now, and once summer arrives they'll extend hours to 6 p.m.

Warm, cozy and intimate, the coffee house offers a variety of coffees, teas, smoothies, bagel sandwiches, soup and treats that will keep even the most discriminating of tastes happy. Billed as up-scale, the welcoming nature of the staff till make one feel at home instantly.

Shop Manager Nathan Alexander said they have been busy since opening in December. Locals have found them as well as visitors at the nearby timeshare resort and those passing through the mall. The seats and tables inside are perfect for a meeting or to catch up on the internet or read a good book by the fireplace. Alexander says they'll add seating outside once the warmer weather arrives. He said the owner want to bring in some outdoor celebrations in the parking lot this summer as well.

They sell Rude Brother's pastries and bagels. Bagel sandwiches offered include the Tahoe Tessie (cream cheese, capers, avocado and smoked salmon) and the Nevadan (garlic spread, onion, jack cheese, smoked ham and bacon). Morning fare includes oatmeal with tasty toppings.
