Digitization your historic materials at free North Lake Tahoe event

Event Date:
June 26, 2016 - 10:00am

This summer, the North Lake Tahoe Historical Society and the University of Nevada, Reno Photography Program will be co-hosting digitization day, a one day event where you can bring your historical Lake Tahoe photographs, postcards, and memorabilia in for professional-quality scanning.

Participants will be given free copies of scans on USB drives, and will have the option to donate a digital copy of materials for inclusion in the NLTHS’s databases, contributing to the visual history of Lake Tahoe.

The event will offer educational programming, including a lecture from historian Carol Jensen on her research on 20th-century photographer Harold Parker’s work at Tahoe, a presentation by photographer Peter Goin on the use of historic photographs in his re-photographic projects, and by photograph archivists discussing how to preserve personal photographs and how to interpret historical images. Docents will also offer tours of the Museum’s collections.

The event will be Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Gatekeeper’s Museum, 130 W Lake Blvd, Tahoe City, CA 96145. Admission is free to the public.
