Come and see the winning pictures selected in the Carson Memories photo contest at the Carson Nugget

The winners of the Carson Memories photo contest were announced this week in a ceremony held at the Carson Nugget.
The Carson Memories contest asked participants to submit their favorite photos demonstrating something special or distinct about the Carson City area.

The winning photos, along with the other select photos, are being incorporated into an exhibit created by Gardnerville artist, Beverly Caputo. The exhibit is featured next to a recently finished mural painted by Caputo. The mural depicts key people, places and things of historical relevance to Carson City.

The winners are:
1st place- (Overall) Linda Wrubel for her 1960 photo of the Nevada Day Parade along north Carson Street outside the Carson Nugget. Wrubel received $500 in cash.

1st place- (Special category, featuring the Carson Nugget) Jeb Block for his 1974 postcard from the Carson Nugget.

2nd place-Colleen Miller for her photo of the Stream Train. Miller received an iPad.

3rd place- Alan Marriage for his 1955 photo taken by his father’s Polaroid camera (Charles Marriage). It shows the view from north Carson Street in front of the Nugget. Marriage received a Kindle-Fire.

Several honorable mention photos were also announced and will be displayed in the exhibit. Also, there are silk-screen T-shirts, depicting various historic elements of the mural, on sale in the Carson Nugget gift shop.
