Chance of snow, rain and wind possible in the weekly Lake Tahoe forecast

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A fast moving Pacific storm will move through Monday with strong winds, valley rain and mountain snow. Clearing for Tuesday into Wednesday with a couple weak systems possible Wednesday night and on Friday. Some increase in wind along with showers are possible with each storm.

A Winter Weather Advisory is still in place for 4:00 a.m. Monday to 4:00 a.m. Tuesday though snow amounts have been reduced since first announced. The strong winds and snow associated with this next storm will cause whiteout conditions over the passes at times. with the worst conditions between noon and 8 p.m. Monday.

Travel could be very difficult over the passes. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning or evening commute Monday. Strong winds could cause downed limbs and power lines. Dangerous boating conditions expected for Lake Tahoe with wave heights 2 to 5 feet.

Snow levels still look to be 6000-7000 feet from north to south for much of the event. This will limit most snow above that level as they will not fall until the front passes in the late afternoon. Total precipitation amounts up to one inch at lake level.
