COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officers announced 176 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, 11 are in El Dorado Hills, 23 in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, 24 in Greater Placerville, 3 in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, 6 in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, 8 in North County, 3 in South County, 91 in Lake Tahoe region. Awaiting address confirmation from today's count: 7 - Total now awaiting address confirmation: 61.

Of those new cases, 15 are under the age of 18, 92 are age 18-49, 41 are aged 50-64, and 27 aged 65 or older. Total date of birthdate unknown: 5

There have been another 135 assumed recoveries with 1,708 assumed active cases.

There have been an additional 504 negative results received. Negative test disclaimer: Whereas laboratory-confirmed case numbers reflect only El Dorado County residents, negative results may also include some non-El Dorado County residents whose tests were performed within the county. Total negative results include results for individuals who have been tested more than once. This differs from the count of total confirmed cases, as individuals who test positive on multiple occasions are only counted as a single case. For this reason, these two numbers (total confirmed cases and total negative test results) are not comparable and should not be used together to calculate a positivity rate. Only PCR or NAAT tests (tests that detect viral RNA) are included in this estimate of "Total Negative Test Results". Antigen tests and antibody (serology) tests are not included in this estimate.

There are currently 40 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with 12 of them in the ICU at Barton and Marshall. According to the State's website, 7 of the non-ICU patients and 2 of the ICU patients are in Barton, with 33/10 at Marshall. There are no suspected cases at either hospital. Also according to the State website, Barton has 4 available ICU beds, Marshall 2, but as previously shared before, each hospital can expand their capacity depending on staff and other variables.

There have been four additional deaths, the total for El Dorado County residents from COVID-19 is 31.

- 65+ Male from El Dorado Hills
- 65+ Female from El Dorado Hills
- 65+ Male from South Lake Tahoe
- 65+ Male from Greater Placerville

The county moved into the purple tier November 17 and started the Stay-at-Home order December 10. It is in place until the ICU occupancy level for the Sacramento Region has an outlook of over 15 percent for four weeks.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 14.2 percent positivity and the 14-day rate of new cases is 701 (+58).

We are also reporting 85 new cases and 25 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 9,632, with 4,968 recoveries and 135 deaths; 4,529 cases remain active.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 255 new COVID-19 cases and 5 new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

Their seven-day test rate is 12.6 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 40.5 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 9.0 percent, 14-day increase is 20.1 percent.
