Sign up to be on COVID-19 vaccine alert list

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Now that the COVID-19 vaccine rollout is moving through the official phases and tiers, a vaccine list has been start for those who are able to respond to a Placerville or South Lake Tahoe Public Health Office within 30-60 minutes of getting an alert.

Since the vaccines have a short life outside of refrigeration, once a vial of ten is opened it needs to be used right away. If the health department is administering the vaccines and have extra, they will notify those on the alert list, no matter what phase or tier that person happens to be in. This is to prevent any waste of vaccines as other regions have experienced.

No one will be helped through this alert process unless they received an alert so do not show up unless told to.

As of January 11, 2021 El Dorado County has received:

4,875 doses of the Pfizer brand vaccine
5,900 doses of the Moderna brand vaccine

The State has prioritized vaccination rollout into phases; the first, Phase 1A, is sub-prioritized into tiers, as shown below.

Working with a multi-agency coordination group, the first allotments of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to El Dorado County has been allocated to frontline health care workers at both hospitals in the county (Marshall Medical in Placerville and Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe), Emergency Medical Services first responders, as well as long term care facility staff due to their congregate environments.

Many long term care facilities are participating in a federal program to receive vaccinations for their additional staff and residents that will follow shortly behind the county allocation and from a different supply and distribution chain.

We are currently in Phase 1a, tiers 1 and 2 and working toward tier 3. Additional Phases for other workforce segments have not yet been developed by the State, nor has the plan for providing vaccines to the general public.
