SnowGlobe on the South Lake Tahoe City Council agenda

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Chad Donnelly, CEO of SnowGlobe Music Festival, and Lauren Thomaselli, SLT Recreation Superintendent, will brief the Council about the recent 2018 SnowGlobe Music Festival held from December 29 – 31 at the Community Playfields and Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) during the January 15 Council meeting. Donnelly will share his perspective and observations about this year’s event and Thomaselli will summarize the perspective and observations from all City departments and other governmental partners involved in the production of the event.

No vote will be taken, this is just an informational agenda item. There will be time for public comment.

By most accounts this year's event ran smoother than in the previous seven years with fewer medical and police issues, and there was an increased effort to control noise issues in the neighborhoods. Even with these new efforts, noise remains a top concern of the South Lake Tahoe community.

Noise data and a record of all complaints will be presented.

2018 was the last year in SnowGlobe's current contract. Donnelly has indicated that he’d like to secure a new contract for SnowGlobe no later than the end of February, if not sooner, in order to ensure a successful 2019 event. He has now merged his festival with MTV. There are no plans to grow the event locally, but the music channel plans to broadcast the event in more than 150 countries next year.

This meeting can be viewed on line via the City's website at http://www.cityofslt.us/84/Watch-Council-Meetings. The meeting is in Council Chambers at the Lake Tahoe Airport.
