Power being restored to more Lake Tahoe residents

7:00 p.m. update - All customers except those who live in the River Road area have had their power restored. Since Saturday, Liberty has been using a helicopter to reach remote areas to repair severe damage necessary to restore service to the 136 customers in the River Road area. Unfortunately, helicopter operations were limited today due to weather and once they were underway, additional damage was discovered. If the weather cooperates and the helicopter is able to fly, Liberty hopes to restore power to these last customers by Tuesday night. If you live outside the River Road area and experience a power outage, please report it to 1-844-245-6868.

The majority of customers who lost power during last week's blizzard in Lake Tahoe have now had their electricity restored. Most of those in Tahoe Pines, Homewood, Tahoma, Rubicon, South Lake Tahoe and Meeks Bay now have power restored.

There continue to be a small amount of customers still out due to severe damage in some of these areas according to Kathy Carter, spokesperson for Liberty Utilities.

Crews will continue to work on restoration throughout the week. Some of those crews have gained access to the River Road area via helicopter (as shown on video in this story) where damage is extensive. Carter said they expect it will still be a couple of days before the remainder of those without power are back on.

The Kings Beach area experienced an outage Sunday night and about ten customers there are without power with restoration expected soon.

The South Lake Tahoe area has mostly been restored with the exception of a few customers due to damaged lines, crews continue to work on these. P

A series of new storms are expected to start Wednesday so Carter reminds customers to be prepared.
