Snow-covered body of Homewood man found outside his residence

Placer County Sheriff deputies found the snow-covered body of 49-year-old Todd Michael Borchardt of Homewood outside of his home Tuesday morning.

The deputies responded to the PDQ Market in Tahoma at 11:00 a.m. January 24 for the report of an abandoned vehicle which they found covered in snow, and no apparent tracks around it. They ran the car's license plate and found it belonged to a Homewood resident.

When they responded to the residence in the 6000 block of Emerald Circle they heard dogs were barking inside the home, but there was no answer at the door. Neighbors said they hadn't seen Borchardt for a couple of days and were concerned for his welfare. Deputies found a cell phone and wallet in the residence, then started a search around the home with the held of North Tahoe Fire.

Within a few minutes, Borchardt's body was located near the driveway.

The investigation is ongoing, but foul play is not suspected.
