Cal Tahoe JPA seeks bids to remodel old jail for new headquarters

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Bids are currently being sought for the remodel project at the new home of the California Tahoe Emergency Services Operations Authority (CalTahoe) in South Lake Tahoe. They have been without a permanent home since early 2020 when South lake Tahoe Fire Rescue took back its Station 2 for fire and medic operations.

CalTahoe has been serving the South Shore with ambulance service as a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) since 2001. After the fire department moved trucks into Station 2, the Cal Tahoe JPA has been renting homes in South Lake Tahoe for their base of operations as they continued their search for a new place to house staff and ambulances. They are currently housed in a home near Heavenly Mountain Resort. The City of South Lake Tahoe is giving them free use of the old jail at 3066 Lake Tahoe Boulevard. The South Lake Tahoe Chamber moved into the old jail, followed by the Lake Tahoe Visitor's Authority. To be able to house the ambulances and staff this building needs to be remodeled.

The remodel project is now posted for bid with a due date of 02/22/2021.
