Soroptimists sew dresses for girls around the world

Joining the efforts to give every girl in the world a dress, local members of Soroptimists International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) have been sewing away. 100 dresses were made in South Lake Tahoe during two sewing sessions to send to Cuba, Mexico and other points around the globe.

SITS President Diane Imbach has "Dress a Girl Around the World" as her focus this year, and the members have been participating with sewing parties to fulfill her goals.

Member Christina Frohlich delivered some of the dresses to a church with an orphanage in Loreto, Mexico in December. The women running the church were very grateful and they would wrap them and give to the girls as gifts for Christmas.

Dresses were also delivered to girls in Cuba by SITS President-Elect Nancy Muller and a local family, the Romagnolas, took a bundle to Mexico.

Dress a Girl Around the World is a campaign under Hope 4 Women International, a 501(c)3. Their goal is one million dresses.
