Heavy snow expected with quick-moving storm

More much-needed snow for the Lake Tahoe Basin is on the way, with a cold low pressure system that will move into the region by Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
The strong jet stream and sufficient moisture associated with the system may produce heavy snow at times.
The system will be quick moving, with snow likely only a few hour stretches but several inches are expected to accumulate during this time. Snow fall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible with the heavy snow bands happening during the Wednesday morning commute for the Lake Tahoe Basin, according to the weather service.

Snow is expected to develop late tonight, with the heaviest snow between 2 and 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The Lake Tahoe Basin is currently under a Winter Weather Advisory. Go here for the latest road controls and here to track the storm.
