Single digit lows, wind and snow in store for Lake Tahoe this week

A strong cold front will move through the region Sunday into Sunday night. bringing periods of snow to the Sierra and snow showers to western Nevada. The temperatures early next week will be the coldest of the season with dangerous wind chills in the Sierra.
Winds will continue to increase tonight becoming strong along ridgetops and gusty in Sierra valleys and along the Sierra front range. The strongest winds are expected Sunday as the cold front moves through the region. Wind advisories remain in effect tonight through Sunday evening mainly for areas south of I-80. Expect
peak wind gusts generally in the 40-50 mph range, but up to 65 mph in wind prone areas.
There is a wind advisory in effect from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday. The strongest gusts are expected from late morning into the afternoon.
Forecast from the National Weather Service in Reno:
Tonight - A 10 percent chance of snow showers after 4am. Mostly clear, with a low around 34. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
Sunday - Snow showers, mainly after 4pm. High near 38. Breezy, with a southwest wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Sunday Night - Snow showers, mainly before 10pm. Low around 13. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Washington's Birthday - A 50 percent chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 23. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Monday Night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers, mainly before 10pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 3. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north in the evening. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 30.
Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 4.
Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 36.
Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 15.
Thursday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 37.
Thursday Night - A slight chance of snow. Partly cloudy, with a low around 18.
Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.
Friday Night - A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.
Saturday - A chance of snow. Mostly sunny, with a high near 38.
