Auditions for children's virtual musical, Super Happy Awesome News
Submitted by paula on Sun, 01/10/2021 - 7:35pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Black Ice Theater Company's Children's Theatre Program is holding auditions for the virtual musical play, "Super Happy Awesome News." To audition for the March 2021 production, parents will need to submit a video of their young thespian singing their favorite song for at least 30 seconds. The song choice can be anything from "Happy Birthday" to "Jingle Bells."
Submissions will be accepted for children ages 8-14. Please include the child's name and the role they are interested in, if any, and email to info@blackicetheatreco.com by January 15, 2021.

Staff members are not shaving this December for 'Decembeard', and taking the funds collected to buy a gift at a local small business and then deliver to the chosen person....each day for the 12 Days of Christmas. They did the same beard fundraising last month along with City staff for 'Novembeard' which raised money for a cancer charity.

COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties
Submitted by paula on Fri, 08/21/2020 - 5:10pmSOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials today announced another 11 cases of COVID-19 in the county, three of them in the Lake Tahoe region, three in the Greater Placerviller area, two in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, one in El Dorado Hills, one in North County and one in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue. Of the new cases, eight are aged 18-49, four aged 50-64 (one extra as previous case birthday was obtained).

He will be at 2216 Dunlap Street in South Lake Tahoe from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the public can join in a drive-by celebration of this WWII vet. Tallac in the background, little did she know she would become a much-needed respite in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.
She posted that photo on the I Love Lake Tahoe page, gathering hundreds of "likes" and several comments about what her next drink would be. A new fan suggested a Lemon Drop would look nice on the balcony, and so it began.
Alpine County releases their roadmap to reopening

That occurred in March, the person was not hospitalized, and has recovered. Surrounding counties continue to report either no change or a small increase in the number of cases (El Dorado – 56, with 20 in South Lake Tahoe, Douglas (NV) – 24, Calaveras – 13, Amador – 8, Tuolumne – 2, Mono - 32).

New ceramic art studio opens in South Lake Tahoe

Owners and instructors, Colleen Sidey and Bryan Yerian are ceramic artists with over 40 years combined experience, Lake Tahoe Community College art faculty members, and local elementary school art enrichment teachers. Colleen and Bryan have lived in South Lake Tahoe for over ten years and created Compass Clay Studio as a way to provide the local community with access to the clay experience.

Dozens of past and current leaders, staff, students and community members enjoyed the party for Dr. Duke who started with the college on September, 1974 when a key to a post office box was all there was.

After a week of heavy snow, the National Weather Service has extended the Winter Snow Warning for Lake Tahoe until 7:00 p.m. Sunday night. There is also a Winter Weather Advisory for Sierra Front valleys including Reno/Sparks, Carson City, and Carson Valley through this evening.
Winter Storm Warning through Sunday in Lake Tahoe

After a day that saw mostly rain at lake level, the National Weather Service updated the warning, extending the length of the warning that originally issued and lowering snow levels through the three-day period.

Initial forecasts had just rain at lake level Wednesday, but it is snowing as of 8:30 a.m.
Wednesday and Thursday: Heavy high elevation snow and damaging winds are expected. Rainfall amounts are expected to be between one and two inches in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday. Expect chain controls on mountain passes. Winter Storm Warning in place until 10:00 p.m. Thursday.

The woman who is responsible for giving away millions of dollars to the South Lake Tahoe community was given something back, a lot of love and appreciation.
Planned by her close friend and caretaker, Ricky Reich, no detail was left undone and her favorite color pink was evident in all of the flowers and decor.

South Lake Tahoe man arrested in Carson City for alleged 3rd DUI
Submitted by paula on Mon, 08/20/2018 - 7:44pmA 52-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested in the area of North Curry and West Spear streets for felony suspicion of third DUI, driving on a revoked license, and following too close, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.
Ragan Allen Stacey was arrested after deputies responded to a two vehicle crash Saturday evening. Dispatch advised the driver of one of the vehicles was walking away from the crash, and deputies were able to locate him on North Curry Street.
Wednesday pairings for American Century Golf in Lake Tahoe

Joe Theismann's group came in first with a 51.6, followed by Greg Maddux's team with a 51.7. Third place was a tie, with Mark Mulder's and Shannon Sharpe's teams at 52, followed by Ivan Rodriguez at 52.1.

There will once again be a 4th of July Parade through South Lake Tahoe, and the community is invited to participate.
Celebrate the nation's birthday on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. There is a new route this year. The parade will be staged on Ski Run Boulevard and head West on Highway 50 to Al Tahoe Boulevard where the parade will lead up Al Tahoe Blvd. and conclude again at Bijou Community Park with a community barbecue.
Successful Caring Neighbors program in Douglas County

Trained Douglas County Sheriff’s Office volunteers, known as Citizen Patrol who have completed background checks, uniformed and trained can call or visit senior clients who live in Douglas County.

Kirkwood is reporting 10 inches of snow in the last 24 hours, Heavenly - 3", Sierra-at-Tahoe - 7", Squaw/Alpine - 5", Northstar - 5", Mt. Rose - 7", and Diamond Peak - 2".
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno is reporting that after Monday, there is a chance of snow Wednesday through Saturday, and possibly into next week. A cold low pressure trough will remain over the Lake Tahoe and Western Nevada region with below normal temperatures.

After is passes, dry and warmer conditions will prevail for the next few days.
Saturday will be the warmest day of the forecast (and possibly the rest of the month) with winds aloft becoming more west and a little better mixing for temps rising a few degrees above average.

Rotarians honor Lake Tahoe area veterans

Club member Brian Williams, US Marines (retired), organized this year's event as he does each year, inviting local veterans for lunch and a program. The Marine Corps 242nd birthday fell on the event this year, and the former Marine had a special birthday for the attendees to enjoy.
Museum in Carson City to host community birthday bash for Glenn Lucky

Former South Lake Tahoe resident Glenn Lucky turn 65 this month, and the Nevada State Museum in Carson City is planning a big birthday party in his honor on September 27 at 10:00 a.m. in the Dema Guinn Concourse of the museum at 600 N. Carson Street.
Lucky was born on Sept. 27, 1952 in Coronado, Calif. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was just one.
He and his family moved to the South Shore when Glenn was 3-year-old.
Kudos: Bread & Broth thanks Temple Bat Yam

B&B, a non-profit, all volunteer organization, began feeding the needy of the Tahoe South Shore community in 1989 as a multi-denominational food outreach program. Throughout the past 28 years, volunteers of all faiths have supported the B&B program and Temple Bat Yam’s Adopt a Day of Nourishment dinner is a testament to the continuing support of all faiths in feeding the hungry of our community.
