Mild week ahead in Lake Tahoe; Chance of snow once again in the weekend forecast

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After a brief winter storm, things are clearing up for Lake Tahoe in the week ahead with the high getting near 60 on Thursday. Just as the forecast over the last few weekends, a slight chance of snow returns on Friday nigh with dropping temperatures.

Warm and dry conditions Wednesday-Thursday with some light breezes possible as the developing trough breaks down the ridge. Gusty winds are more likely Friday-Saturday as weather simulations show a wave of energy into the west coast. Not a ton of consistency here, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno, especially with the first wave of energy trying to break down a ridge, but this could bring some rain and mountain snow for the end of the week. Another simulation shows a cut-off low developing off the SoCal coast, and if that does, precipitation chances are rather unlikely as the moisture tap and energy are directed way too far south. However, we are entering the time of year for pesky cut-off lows which are notoriously difficult to predict says NWS Reno.

The NWS Reno forecast for the week for South Lake Tahoe:
