South Lake Tahoe community meets new LTUSD superintendent

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Dr. Todd Cutler is officially the new superintendent for Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD). The Board of Trustees unanimously approved his contract and he was introduced to the standing room only crowd that gathered to meet him.

He and his wife Dee Dee were at the meeting to meet the community.

"This is a dream come true," said Dr. Cutler. "I have always wanted to come home. This is such a cool place."

He played youth sports in South Lake Tahoe, graduated from Whittell High School, and his first job was at Heidi's. He has served as the mayor of Fernley, Nevada and has taught in the area including Douglas County. Dr. Cutler said he and his wife met at Edgewood Tahoe.

"I am looking forward to working together with the community," Dr. Cutler added. "I will always be visible and open to hearing from you. The future is going to be bright, so bright."

The Board approved a waiver to the California Education Code that allows a district to waive any credential requirements for superintendents. Dr. Cutler holds a current and valid teaching credential issued by the State of Nevada and a current and valid administrative credential in both Nevada and California. The board waived the California teaching credential requirement.

Dr. Cutler has recently been the superintendent in Winters, Calif. and formerly in Susanville, Calif.

"I believe we found the best and the right person for the job," said Board President Larry Reilly.

He will start with LTUSD July 1.

"I am ready to get here, and get going," Dr. Cutler told the crowded board room.
