Amy Thompson, Owner of Tahoe Tot Spot, Take Home Mirror Ball Trophy

If the showroom overflowing with screaming and happy fans is any indication, the Tahoe Arts Project's Dancing with the Tahoe Stars was a success.

Ten couples performed numbers in front of a panel of judges: Marcia Sarosik, Paul Middlebrook and Don Bosson. MC Dreu Murin guided the evening of entertainment from the dancers to performances by Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio, South Tahoe High Performing Arts and Forever Dance.

Scoring a perfect 30 out of 30, Tahoe Tot Spot owner Amy Thompson and her dancing partner, Spencer Christian, performed a crowd pleasing Salsa. The couple's scores were added to votes from the audience to come up with the winner of the mirror ball trophy.

The other couples competing were Realtor Klaus Utecht and his partner, Becca Lincoln dancing the Cha Cha; Sierra at Tahoe Director of Skier Services Sean Sweeney and his partner Sarah Guzman dancing the Fox Trot; local businesswoman Roberta Benvenuto and her partner Dino Elias dancing Broadway; Dental Hygienist France Caro and her partner Robert Maloon dancing Country; City Councilman Tom Davis and his partner Angela Marie Smith dancing the Waltz; South Tahoe High Theater director Liz Niven and her partner Adam Hopkins dancing the Samba; Director of Tahoe Center for Orthopedics Chris Proctor and his partner Kerri Pipes dancing the swing; Jazzercise owner Jodi Stewart and her partner Lyndon Facey, Jr. dancing Hip Hop; Lahontan Water Quality Board Engineer Eric Taxer and his partner Dana Nott dancing the Tango.

Winner of the People's Choice award was Eric Taxer.

The real winner of the evening was Tahoe Arts Project. Their next event will be the Celtic performers, Golden Bough. School shows will be March 24-28 with a public show on March 27.
