Pi Day to be celebrated in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday
Submitted by paula on Tue, 03/10/2015 - 8:41pm
Saturday is the ultimate Pi Day, a day that most people will experience only once in their life. The number Pi (Ï€) is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle's circumference to it's diameter. In honor of this special day, the LTCC Math Club is holding a family friendly event.
Since π = 3.141592653, people are being asked to gather at the Heavenly Gondola's clock on 3.14.15 at 9:26:53 a.m.
Dr. Larry Green and the math students will have games and demonstrations centered around Pi. They're asking people to get to the clock by 9:00 a.m. so all can enjoy the planned games, including forming human circles and lines to demonstrate circumferences.
For more information about Pi Day and the LTCC Math Club, please contact mathematics instructor Dr. Green at (530) 541-4660 ext. 341.
