South Lake Tahoe: What to do this weekend

The inaugural Winter Bazaar will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and will feature stocking stuffers, gifts for Hanukkah and Christmas, and small prizes for attending. Food will be offered for sale by Seniors, Inc. The Senior Center is located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Two local authors, Jennifer Quashnick and Elizabeth Patterson, will be on hand to sign their books with purchase. Jewelry, barbecue supplies, hand made gifts, small plant gardens, decorations, home decor, gifts for pets, and much more will be displayed for purchase.

A fun 3k walk with a twist is the next fundraiser for Tahoe Youth & Family Services. After this summer's successful Color Blast Run, they are now having an Ugly Sweater Walk starting at 10 a.m. on November 14, 2015 at Lake Tahoe Community College.

The walk will start at 10:00 a.m. and the registration will close at 9:45 a.m. They will be meeting in front of the Early Childhood Education building on the LTCC campus. Parking will be located right behind the building. There will be prizes for the ugliest sweaters. Comfortable walking clothing and shoes is encouraged.

Tahoe Arts Project is hosting the 4th annual Holiday Festival on Saturday and Sunday, November 14 and 15, 2015 in the South Tahoe Middle School Multi-Purpose Room. The event will take place Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This very special event will feature art, craft and food vendors, entertainment, raffle prizes, visit from Santa and fun for the entire family. Admission is FREE!!

Santa Paws is coming to town one day only, this Saturday, November 14.
The Lake Tahoe Humane Society's 29th annual Santa Paws will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tahoe Production House studios. Pets and family members get to pose with Santa Dog and have their photo taken by professional photographer Jen Schmidt. Bows and antlers for photos will be available.

Your 5 x 7 inch photo will be handed out at the event, no waiting needed. Digital copies are also available. Raffle prizes and refreshments will be available. Tahoe Production House is located at 2291 Lake Tahoe Blvd in South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe's 968 Park Hotel is hosting one of their popular craft beer tastings on Saturday, November 14 at 5 p.m. in their CoffeePub Lounge and Bar.
The craft beer tasting will be by Anderson Valley Brewing Company which is based in Booneville, Calif.

Local band, The Connor Party, will be performing during the evening's event from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Jeff Connor and John Munroe met in Lake Tahoe, and soon merged their musical talents in "The Connor Party." They are "fueled by a love of authentic music, fresh powder and of all things regarding life in the mountains, you’ll find them applying their passions to their lives," according to their website.

Did you think your days of dressing up for the prom were over? Wrong! The 3rd annual Adult Prom, Bubbles and Bow Ties, will be held at the Hard Rock Lake Tahoe on November 14 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Enjoy dancing, photo booths, contests for best hair and best outfit, Prom King and Queen raffle, and a silent auction, all to raise money for Camp Buck and the Nevada Diabetes Association.

Local personality Dreu Murin will host the evening events.

Tahoe Blizzardfest is the convergence of art and elements and a "Pray for Snow" celebration on the shores of South Lake Tahoe November 13-14 at the Beach Retreat & Lodge.

From live music to movie screenings, to eclectic lakefront art installations and fun activities, the unique festival has something for everyone who loves art, outdoors and snowsports.

There will be an Art Expo - Savor the views and sample amazing art installations by renowned regional artists, all set against the backdrop of majestic Lake Tahoe.

One of the most important plays of the American theatre will receive a unique staging as the Theatre Arts Department at Lake Tahoe Community College presents Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller. Performances are November 13-22 in the Duke Theatre at LTCC, located at One College Drive off of Al Tahoe Blvd.

Performances of Death of a Salesman will be November 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday matinees on November 15 and 22 at 2 p.m. Post-show discussions with the actors and director will take place after the first Sunday matinee, and by request. This play contains some strong language and adult subject matter, and is not recommended for audiences under 16 years of age.

Tickets for Death of a Salesman are $10 general admission, and $5 for seniors, groups of eight or more, and students with a valid student I.D. Tickets may be purchased in advance at LTCC’s Bookstore Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Fridays 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. starting November 2. LTCC’s Box Office will be open for ticket sales one hour prior to all performances.
