MINDEN, Nev. – Johnson Lane residents are invited to learn about the recently completed Johnson Lane Area Drainage Master Plan (ADMP). Residents will have the opportunity to meet with drainage experts regarding the study results related to their neighborhood and flood zone. The ADMP was funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and with matching funds provided by Douglas County.
The event will take place at the following location, date and time:
Presentation of the Proposed Johnson Lane Area Drainage Master Plan
5 – 7 p.m. (Short presentation at 5:30 p.m.)
C.V.I.C. Hall
1602 Esmeralda Avenue
Minden, NV
A presentation highlighting the results and recommendations of the ADMP will be presented at 5:30 p.m. by the consultants who prepared the ADMP, J.E. Fuller Hydrology and Geomorphology and Lumos and Associates, as well as Douglas County Staff. An open question and answer forum will be held after the presentation
The ADMP examines historic flow patterns and analyzed how development and road networks have altered these drainage patterns. The ADMP provides a list of improvements necessary to allow the roadway network to accommodate a 25-year 24-hour storm, the standard for all County roadways. It explores various flood mitigation alternatives that have been proposed by residents, such as restoration of lands impacted by off-road vehicles, contour trenching and individual lot management plans. The ADMP also examined projects that could provide protection above the adopted County standards up to the 100-year peak runoff event.
The ADMP is a planning document to provide County elected officials a sense of the scope and cost to provide flood protection and to prioritize projects to reduce flood risk in the area.
For residents that are unable to attend the meeting, or those who would like to view the plan and presentation prior to the meeting, materials and information will be uploaded no later than one week prior to the meeting at:
