South Lake Tahoe forecast: Lots of sun, near average daytime temperature

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - If you looked at the 7-day forecast on Sunday morning you may have been excited...high 50s at the end of the week followed by a 60 on Easter Sunday. That all went awry by afternoon as the weather models show a cold front dropping further south than originally planned and into northern California and Nevada with the jet stream near the Oregon border.

There will now be increased winds for Wednesday through Friday afternoons, particularly for thee Sierra ridges. The highs decreased and will now be closer to average and a chance of precipitation lingers.

There is a Lake Wind Advisory in place for Lake Tahoe from Monday at 2:00 p.m. to Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. Expect southwest winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Waves could be 2-4 feet.

The weekly forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno:

Monday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 22. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 50.

Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 18.

Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 49.

Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 21.

Friday - A slight chance of rain and snow. Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.

Friday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.

Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
