A bit of everything in the Lake Tahoe forecast

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The week ahead in the Lake Tahoe Basin will have some rain, a thunderstorm, snow, sun, and wind. It's almost like what Mark Twain once said: “If you don't like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes.” Just pull out New England and insert Lake Tahoe!

They all appear in the forecast this week as weak to moderate spring storms impact the region. The wettest periods look to be Tuesday and Friday Night into Saturday. Temperatures will be variable from day to day, but generally near to slightly
above normal for the first week of April.

The first system of the week arrives Monday as mainly light rain showers for the area. This will be a warm system, with snow levels above 8,000 ft. A stronger, but still fairly weak storm on Tuesday will bring more widespread showers and lower snow levels. now levels will start around 6,500-7,500` north to south. Snow levels will eventually fall to around 6,500 ft. A few rumbles of thunder will also be possible on Tuesday, with enough instability present. Active spring weather continues through the second half of next week and into the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Monday- A 40 percent chance of showers after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Monday Night - Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Tuesday - Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 11am. High near 44. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Tuesday Night - A chance of rain showers before 11pm, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 47.

Wednesday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Thursday - A chance of showers after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47.

Thursday Night - A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Friday -A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of rain after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 46.

Friday Night - Rain. Cloudy, with a low around 30.

Saturday -Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Breezy.

Saturday Night - A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Sunday -Partly sunny, with a high near 52.
