Kudos: Local Girl Scouts thank Kahle and Live Violence Free

The Girl Scouts of the Tahoe Shores Service Unit gathered at Kahle to celebrate Thinking Day. Thinking Day is a long tradition with Girl Scouts where girls have a fun opportunity to learn about their world and explore another country with their troop. About 50 girls tasted new foods at 11 booths, shared what they've learned with each other and played games from around the world. Troop 419 earned an additional Global Action Award for planning the event.

We also had Live Violence Free Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator Aisling Peterson join us as guest speaker. Aisling was herself a Girl Scout in the Tahoe Shores Service Unit. She talked with the girls about what healthy, peaceful relationships feel like, and how the relationships we have with each other fit into being a good citizen and that connection between people extends around the world.

Kahle provided Girl Scouts with a big, lovely and affordable space to meet. Without access to Kahle to bring together girls from around our South Tahoe community, we would have had to either use a venue that is not as easy to get to, or charge for enriching events like these to cover rental costs, which would certainly exclude girls from the opportunity.
