Two big tourism events coming to the South Shore

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - The 10th annual Nevada Tribal Tourism Conference is heading to the South Shore, April 23-25, 2018 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Stateline. The theme this year is "Revitalizing Culture Through Tourism."

The conference is focused on strategies on how the southwest tribes in Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah can effectively share their rich history and culture with visitors from around the globe.

Hosted by the Nevada Indian Commission, the Nevada Division of Tourism, and the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association, the days of the conference are filled with speakers and events covering a plethora of topics.

Tourism professionals, grant writers, museum and cultural center staff, tribal leaders and anyone interests in tourism opportunities are invited to attend.

Also coming to the South Shore is the annual Tourism Forum put on by the Tahoe Chamber, Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and Sacramento Airport on Thursday, May 10 at the Hard Rock.

The theme is "Taking Tourism to the Next Level."

This year’s event will feature two keynote speakers, as well as breakout sessions focusing on the hospitality, retail, and culinary industries.

Erik Wolf, Executive Director and Industry Founder of the World Food Travel Association will be the morning keynote, highlighting trends in the food tourism industry. Following the morning keynote and breakout sessions, Christina Erny will take the floor. Senior Manager of Digital Marketing and Engagement for the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitor Authority, Christina will discuss the essentials of destination marketing.

Prices are $30 for chamber members and $50 for non-members. When registering for the event, be sure to select the breakout session you would like to attend (hospitality, retail, or culinary). After May 1, ticket prices increase to $40 for chamber members and $60 for non-members.
