Expect sunny skies in Lake Tahoe Saturday, snow in Sunday's forecast

Enjoy a sunny Saturday in Lake Tahoe, but don't count on it lasting too long. The National Weather Service in Reno is calling for rain and snow through Thursday.

Kirkwood is closing on Sunday for the season, with other resorts starting to wrap up their seasons next week.

Here is the NWS forecast:

Saturday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 52. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. West wind around 5 mph.

Sunday - A 30 percent chance of rain after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Sunday Night - Rain and snow showers. Low around 28. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph decreasing to 10 to 15 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Monday - A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Monday Night - Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday - Rain and snow showers likely. Partly sunny, with a high near 47.

Tuesday Night - A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 26.

Wednesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 49.

Wednesday Night - A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.

Thursday - A chance of snow showers. Mostly sunny, with a high near 49.

Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 25.
