Join us for a forum & luncheon focused on the future of South Lake Tahoe and how businesses and community members can better prepare for new and younger customers. Featuring keynote speaker Lynn Carpenter, the VP of Marketing for Visit California, who will discuss Visit CA's marketing initiatives (US and International) and share with attendees how this impacts the local market and how local businesses can and should leverage Visit CA efforts. She'll also talk about tomorrow's visitor and discuss opportunities for local businesses.

Two other speakers will also share during the afternoon, Carl Ribaudo and Jason Broadwater. Carl, President of SMG, will speak to cultural shifts in our market place and the competitive set and what we can learn from them. Jason, Founder of Revenflo, will strive to dispel myths about millennials. He'll present the lifestyle choices millennials are making and how that impacts their disposable income available for travel. He'll speak to what a community needs in order to be attractive to this growing and vital demographic and what they consider when making decisions about where to vacation, live, and work. Jason will also speak to how this demographic seeks a team to solve problems and how talent seeks a village where they can become part of the solution.

The speakers will be followed by a forum and discussion with all three speakers and the audience.

Speaker Bios:

Keynote Speaker: Lynn Carpenter
Lynn Carpenter is the Vice President of Marketing for Visit California. Lynn oversees all of Visit California’s marketing, including advertising, cooperative promotions, travel trade, web and interactive, and publications. Lynn steers a marketing budget that has grown from $6 million in 2006 to $117 million today. Under her leadership, Visit California has marketed the state as a place of abundance and opportunity. Lynn has added international offices in China, Mexico, and South Korea – among others – to Visit California’s portfolio, spreading the state’s brand around the globe in an effort to grow California’s share of tourism revenues. Lynn has more than 20 years of professional marketing experience and extensive knowledge of online technology promotions and brand development. She began her career in the technology industry, serving as Vice President of Marketing at Netscape Communications and AOL Time Warner. She crossed the threshold into the travel industry as Executive Director of Marketing and Sales for Mammoth Mountain Resort. She is currently a resident of Loomis, where she lives with her husband and two children. They enjoy spending their time in the outdoors.

Carl Ribaudo
​Carl is a strategic thinker, thought leader and innovator in the tourism industry. As the founder and president of SMG Consulting Carl has developed a wide range of services including, marketing research, marketing strategy and planning, tourism economic analysis and measurement. Most recently he has developed programs to assist organization’s and destination’s develop effective change strategies. Carl is a trusted advisor to a number of CEO’s and senior executives throughout the industry. He was recently appointed to the Measurement and ROI Committee of Visit California. Carl has served the marketing needs of clients throughout both the public and private sectors. In each case, he and his team design solutions unique to each client’s needs. Carl is also a writer and writes a monthly op-ed page, he a published a number of marketing strategy, tourism and motorcycle touring related articles. He has also been both a guest speaker and panelists at a number of industry conferences. Carl obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University at Northridge. He received his Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from San Francisco State University Graduate School of Business. He recently completed a certificate program at Cornell University in Organizational Change Leadership. He enjoys riding his BMW motorcycle on two lane roads throughout the west, trap shooting and skiing.

Jason Broadwater
Jason Broadwater is a creative entrepreneur, a husband, and a father of two. He is the founder and president of RevenFlo (an Internet Marketing Company in Rock Hill, SC). He is the founder and president of Givolio (an app and online tool for giving). He speaks on the New Economy’s impact on Community and Organizational Development. He is the author of six books. He is a carpenter and a musician by hobby. He holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Writing from Goddard College in Vermont. He is a fellow of the Innovation in Economic Development Executive Leadership Program at the John F. Kennedy School at Harvard University.
