36th annual dance recitals for Lake Tahoe's Shining Stars

For 36 years dancers from the Marcia Sarosik Dance Studio have celebrated the joy and beauty of dance during their annual recitals and starting Sunday, April 28, that tradition continues on the stage of the South Shore Room at Harrah's Tahoe.

The studio's 'Lake Tahoe’s Shining Stars', ages 2 1/2 to "young at heart" adults will dance in the recitals that showcase their talent and hard work.

This annual tradition has performances in an array of dance styles including classical ballet, tap, traditional jazz, contemporary jazz, musical theater, partnering, and hip hop. The dedication of the teachers and choreographers to excellence in dance is evident in the creative element that runs throughout the production.

In addition to the commitment to excellence in dance and the performing arts, the Lake Tahoe Shining Stars non-profit provides the opportunity to bring these art forms to all children on the South Shore. Their outreach program provides classes and training to students who otherwise would not be able to participate.

Lake Tahoe’s Shining Stars are grateful for the support of various private donors, community members, and organizations who are helping “Make A Difference through Dance,” said Marcia Sarosik. This past winter a generous donation was made by Ricky Reich that enabled the non-profit to replace their holiday show costumes that were over 20 years old. This Sunday, the Bijou Ballet Club joins the Shining Stars when they take the stage at Harrah's, wearing costumes made possible by the Tahoe Women’s Community Fund.

Performance times on Sunday, April 28 are 1:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tickets for these shows can be purchased at the door 45 minutes before showtime. Tickets for the May 5 1:00 p.m.and 5:30 p.m. performances can be purchased online at www.marciasarosikdancers.com by clicking on the recital tab on the home page.
