May 2, 2018 - 6:00pm
The last few attempts to have a special El Dorado County Board of Supervisors meeting on vacation home rentals (VHRs) have been met by bad weather and an overcrowded venue. The VHR meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the South Tahoe Middle School multi-purpose room.
A revised VHR ordinance is the only item on the agenda.
The Board is looking at eight revisions to the current Ordinance:
1) Restructure the violation and penalty provisions;
2) Clarify the language throughout the Ordinance;
3) Require exterior signage;
4) Cap on the number of occupants during quiet hours;
5) Expand the Ordinance to apply countywide;
6) Require inspections prior to permit issuance;
7) Review County VHR Functions; and
8) Bear-resistant trash receptacles.
The initial ordinance revisions are first steps, ones that can be done quickly, as the County's VHR Ad Hoc committee continues to work out a plan on addressing all other aspects of a completely revised VHR ordinance.
If the board votes to conceptually approve these amendments and direct staff to create a the revised ordinance, a first reading could come back to the supervisors by May 22, 2018 for approval.
STMS is located at 2940 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe. The MPR can be accessed from Al Tahoe Blvd.
