Each year, during the month of May, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) recognizes the officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty over the past 86 years the agency has been active.
On Tuesday, May 5, the CHP will hold a memorial to honor the 225 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. It will be held at their academy located at 3500 Reed Avenue in West Sacramento. It begins at 9:30 a.m.
This year they will pay a special tribute to two fallen CHP heroes, Officer Juan Gonzalez and Officer Brian Law, who were tragically killed in a traffic collision in February 2014. Both men dedicated their lives to the safety and service of all Californians.
