Couple Traveling from South Lake Tahoe to So.Cal Caught with 64 Pounds of Pot, Cocaine

More than 64 pounds of marijuana was seized last Tuesday from a couple heading down US 395 from South Lake Tahoe to Rancho Cucamonga last Tuesday, according to reports by the San Francisco Chronicle and the Record Courier.

Mono County Deputies stopped the suspects near Bridgeport, CA. They were identified as driver Mark Bishop, 55, of Claremont, CA, and Heather Davis, 25, of Alta Loma, CA.

As deputies approached the car they could smell pot coming from the vehicle. Bishop and Davis got out of the car and deputies asked if there was any narcotics in the vehicle. Bishop said there was marijuana in the vehicle, but that he had a medical marijuana card. He said he had legal documentation that showed he was permitted to transport the marijuana.

Deputies found 4 large trash bags full of marijuana buds and trimmings, a plastic bag with 2.5 lbs of processed marijuana, a white plastic bag with 10.4 grams of concentrated cannabis and a bad with cocaine that belonged to Davis.

Bishop's documentation was determined to be fictitious by the deputies.

Bishop was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale, possession of concentrated cannabis, and possession of marijuana over 28.5 grams. Bishop posted bail and was released from the Mono County Jail.

Davis, 25, was arrested for possession of marijuana for sale; possession of a narcotic controlled substance; possession of concentrated cannabis; and possession of marijuana over 28.5 grams. As of Thursday, she was in custody in the Mono County Jail.

All charges are pending with the Mono County District Attorney’s Office.
