Inclement weather has delayed the completion of work on the damaged NV Energy underground electrical vault on Highway 50 at Stateline to Friday, June 1. They had originally planned for work to be completed on May 17.
The road has been paved with a temporary patch and both westbound lanes will remain open to traffic until permanent paving begins on Wednesday, May 30. Eastbound lanes will remain open during the course of work.
Starting Wednesday, May 30, both westbound lanes will be closed for permanent paving. The road will be open to traffic as normal on Friday, June 1.
“Our primary concern, as always, is the safety of our customers, the public at large and our employees,” said Brian Costello, Director of Delivery Operations, NV Energy. “We want to thank the residents, visitors and customers in this area for their patience as we complete extensive work to ensure the integrity and safety of the electrical system.”
The vault was damaged on April 1 when there was a fire and explosion inside, blowing out a hole in the highway between MontBleu and Hard Rock casinos.
