Lake Tahoe trails workshop on June 7

Event Date:
June 7, 2012 - 5:30pm

Nevada Division of State Parks will host a trail workshop to plan the future of trails within Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. All trail users are encouraged to attend. The goal is to gather ideas and feedback based on the draft map.
The workshop will be on Thursday, June 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Incline Golf Course Chateau located at 955 Fairway Boulevard in Incline Village. Staff from the Tahoe Rim Trail Association and the U.S. Forest Service will also be there to answer questions.
“Public involvement is the key to a successful plan in determining the future of our trail system,” says Park Supervisor, Jay Howard. “Our goal is to develop a meaningful recreational experience for all who visit.”

A Draft Trail Map of the over 14,000 acre Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park will be presented for review and comment. The map will include Sand Harbor, State Route 28 corridor (including Hidden Beach), Spooner Backcountry, and the Van Sickle Bi-State Park. The over 13,000 acre Marlette Hobart backcountry area receives the most trail use and contains several miles of trails including the Tahoe Rim Trail, the American Discovery Trail and the Marlette Flume Trail.
The current cross country ski and snowshoe concession contract has not been renewed and public feedback is encouraged regarding future winter recreation plans.
