Vail adds new ski resorts and takes over management of Lakeland Village

Vail Resorts has made two announcements this week, one to report their expansion on the slopes, and another that expands their lodging property offerings in South Lake Tahoe.

Vail Resorts has acquired four new mountain resorts: Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire, Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Colorado, and Stevens Pass in Washington State.

"Crested Butte and Steven's Pass are very similar in terrain as Kirkwood," said Kevin Cooper, Senior Manager of Communications for Heavenly and Kirkwood. "Nice addition to our family of resorts and an excellent option for Epic Pass holders in the Pacific Northwest and Colorado, not to say any destination traveler that wants to sample the best in the West."

Back in October, 2010, Vail Resorts Inc., the parent company of Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort, acquired Accommodation Station, the third largest South Lake Tahoe property management company at the time and owned for 34 years by Greta and Mike Hambsch.

Now they'll be adding to their stock of vacation home rentals cabins and homes by becoming the property management company for Lakeland Village starting October 1, 2018, according to Cooper.

With this transition, Heavenly Property Management will operate the front desk of the property and provide dedicated staff onsite to support homeowners and guests alike.

"Lakeland Village is a wonderful complement to our existing lodging offerings in South Lake Tahoe due to the property’s fantastic lakefront location and close proximity to Heavenly Mountain Resort," said Cooper. "We are looking forward to providing both homeowners and guests with the exceptional service and experiences that we currently offer at Heavenly Mountain Resort as well as all of our owned and managed properties throughout Vail Resorts."
