Registration open for South Lake Tahoe Junior Giants virtual summer season

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Summer baseball leagues across the county will be different this year due to COVID-19, and the South Lake Tahoe Junior Giants program is no different.

The City of South Lake Tahoe Recreation Department has teamed up once again with the Giants Community Fund to offer a free, modified Junior Giants Baseball Program for the 2020 baseball season for youth ages 5-18.

The program features a Digital Dugout offering coaching sessions including physical activities, lessons on health and wellness, reading incentives and character development.

Participants will learn skills and drills through videos made especially for Jr Giants by San Francisco Giants Manager, Gabe Kapler and his coaching staff! The program offers two summer sessions beginning June 7th.

“We are pleased to continue to offer Junior Giants through the virtual “at home” format and promote the important core values of the program,” said Recreation Superintendent Lauren Thomaselli, “Participants will gain self-confidence, understand personal integrity, build teamwork, and know what it means to be a leader as well as learning baseball fundamentals.”

The Junior Giants program now reaches over 22,000 children in 90 leagues across California and into Nevada and Oregon. This is South Lake
