Ryann and Morgan Canfield were recognized during Tuesday's Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board meeting for their commitment to achieving perfect attendance as students.
Ryann, and eighth grader at South Tahoe Middle School, has missed just one day of school in her life, and that was one day in kindergarten so she has eight consecutive years of perfect attendance. Her sister, Morgan, a fifth grader at Tahoe Valley Elementary has had perfect attendance throughout her six-year (to-date) school career, including a year of transitional kindergarten.
Proud parents Brandon and Jennifer Canfield were on hand to see the girls given a certificate by Board President Barbara Bannar. Both parents were born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, with Brandon graduating South Tahoe High in 1992, and Jennifer in 1994.
Jennifer said the girls even wouldn't let her pull them out for a trip to Hawaii, they are that committed to school.
STMS Principal John Simons and Tahoe Valley Principal Christina Grubbs were also there to honor the girls.
