Kindergarten, middle school and high school registration for South Lake Tahoe schools in August

Registration for kindergarten at South Lake Tahoe schools will be held on August 4th. South Tahoe Middle School registration for new students will be held on August 12 and for new students at South Tahoe High August 11-14.

The first day of school is August 25th.

Children entering kindergarten in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District in August need to be registered at their local school. Parents are to register their children at their designated elementary school. Boundaries are available for viewing at www.ltusd.org or a map can be picked up at the Education Center (1021 Al Tahoe Boulevard).

To be eligible for enrollment a child must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2014. If your child was born in the month of September (2nd-30th), October or November and will be five years of age on or before December 1, 2014, they qualify for transitional kindergarten (*a two year Kindergarten program).

California law requires that you provide:

1. The child's birth certificate.

2. Proof of immunization, which includes the Varicella (Chicken Pox), Hepatitis B and for most children, the last booster shot. Children will not be enrolled in school without presenting an up-to-date immunization record.

3. A health examination upon entry to school. Schedule with your family doctor or clinic.

4. Oral health examination upon entry to school (dental examinations that have occurred in the last 12 months meet this requirement).

5. Proof of California residency.

Parents need to call the school for a registration appointment. Staff will be available on August 4th at all schools. Bijou Community School 543-2337.

For STHS: Registration will be August 11, 12, 13, 14; staff will be available for telephone calls after August 4, 2014. Please call 543-2255 for more information. Freshmen and New Student Orientation will be Thursday, August 21 at 10:30 a.m. on the football field.
