"Tip-A-Cop” and wing eating contest raise money for Special Olympics

Event Date:
June 14, 2015 (All day)

Several Troopers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, as well as other employees for the Department of Public Safety, will be volunteering their time to raise money for Special Olympics Nevada and California on Sunday June 14, 2014 in the Hard Rock Café.

The Hard Rock Café, located in Harvey’s Casino at Stateline, is where all of the fun will be taking place during the lunch and dinner hours. Patrons will enjoy our employees serving as volunteer waiters and waitresses as they assist the restaurant staff that day while they work for “special tips.” As patrons are greeted, each volunteer will leave an envelope with each table for those wishing to make a donation. These tips are in addition to the regular server’s entitled gratuity.

All of the extra tips will stay here in northern Nevada and northern California to pay for the sports training and competition activities that our area athletes enrolled in Special Olympics Nevada/California programs continue to enjoy year-round.

Additionally, law enforcement officers and firefighters will be competing in a chicken wing eating contest around 4:00 pm at the restaurant that same day. The winner of the event will earn a $500 gift certificate that will be donated to their charity of choice-along with bragging rights- and the coveted golden chicken wing trophy.
