Search continues for missing kayaker on Lake Tahoe's West Shore

The search continues for Dan Pham, the Bay Area man who went missing on Thursday, June 8 after embarking on a kayak trip from Lester Beach towards Emerald Bay. The search was suspended for two days due to bad weather but boats were back on the lake Monday to search for Pham.

Greg Almos, who heads up the El Dorado County Sheriff's Search & Rescue Team, said a ground search will join the marine search Tuesday morning. They will also put up drones again to give a view from above. High winds and big waves have hampered the search but fair weather is ahead in the forecast.

A Go Fund Me page has been started to aid in the search for Pham. As of Monday afternoon it was already $2,000 above its goal of $10,000 to fund an aerial search.

Pham's brother works for the Alameda County Sheriff's Department. "We, along with authorities in Lake Tahoe are asking for the public to help," the Sheriff's office said on their Facebook page. "If you are going to be in and around the lake this weekend please keep a watchful eye for Dan."

His family and friends are currently in South Lake Tahoe to join in the search. They said Dan is an avid outdoorsman and would know what to do if stranded.

"We all ask for continuous prayers and support that we find our brother, uncle, friend, father and bring him back home safely to his family and two children," said their Go Fund Me page.

Pham's car was parked at the beginning of his trip but no boat or supplies had been located as of Monday afternoon.
