New deputy sworn in for Douglas County Sheriff's Office

MINDEN, Nevada – Spencer McLaughlin has been sworn in as a new deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
Surrounded by family and friends, McLaughlin joined the department and started a new career in civilian law enforcement. Deputy McLaughlin was a military police officer for five years, spending most of his time on the base SWAT team in Japan and at Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, California.
McLaughlin earned an Associate’s degree in liberal arts from Feather River College in Quincy where he also played football. He went from graduation to enlisting in the US Marine Corps. He attended the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office SWAT academy during his military assignment.
As a youth, McLaughling lived in Douglas County and in Smith Valley.
