Fire Weather Watch on for Lake Tahoe and Western Nevada

The Great Basin of Nevada and the Lake Tahoe area will see gusty winds and dry conditions Wednesday according to the National Weather Service. In South Lake Tahoe, wind advisory starts at 1 p.m. and will last until 11 p.m.
Winds will be southwest from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Waves on the lake will be 2 to 4 feet and the temperatures will range from a low of 52 tonight to a high of 72 today.
The Nevada Division of Emergency Management released a map of 100 fires for this fire season, so far, which have burned 1695 acres. There were 757 fires from the Sierra Nevada through the Western Great Basin over the last fire season. Over 162,841 acres burned which represents 96% of the 10 year average number of fires and 36% of the 10 year number of acres burned.
With Wednesday's winds, extra caution should be taken when outdoors. The critical stage of fire weather conditions may continue into Friday.
