New NAMI website for El Dorado County provides more information

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) El Dorado County launched a new website that will provide users with a better experience with more information on mental health events, meetings, programs and research.

NAMI is dedicated to mental health awareness and improving the quality of life for people with mental illness and their families through support, education, and advocacy.

"The new website is a robust resource for individuals, families, educators, law enforcement, media, and health and wellness service providers," said Jeanne Nelson, NAMI leader for the South Lake Tahoe community. “It offers quick, convenient access to mental health information, services, and support in El Dorado County.”

The website, namieldoradocounty.org, will feature a calendar of local mental health events and community meetings. It will provide updates on community progress towards identifying and addressing service gaps in the community as well as current best practices and recent research in brain science.

"In our community’s on-going effort to inform people about the mental health services available in our community, this new site covers a breadth of topics,” said Jan Melnicoe, President of NAMI El Dorado County. “Ultimately, we want El Dorado County to be a healthy place to live, work, and play for all individuals, including those experiencing serious mental illness and other mental health conditions.”

Community members are encouraged to explore the website, namieldoradocounty.org and sign up for NAMI’s free monthly e-newsletter. The website can also be added as a resource link to other websites.
