Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe Celebrates New Board of Directors

Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe, a 94-member non-profit community-service organization of professional and business women from California and Nevada announced their 2012 - 2013 Board of Directors at Harrah’s Resort in Stateline, June 27.
SI Sierra Nevada Region Governor-Elect Janice Labadie, a florist from Davis, Calif. and Regional Secretary Patricia Papp, a South Lake Tahoe Realtor and member of sister organization SI Tahoe Sierra, were both on hand to install the new board.

The 2012-2013 SISLT governing board includes: President Pat Disney; President-Elect Sue Novasel; Vice-President Vicki Stilwell; Treasurer Kathleen Brown; Recording Secretary Kim Templeton; Correspondence Secretary Michelle Lam; One Year Director Natasha Schue; Two Year Director Rita Redd; One Year Director Vicki Gonzales-Raucci; Two Year Delegate Colleen Manzer and Two Year Alternate Delegate Michelle Ludiker. Parliamentarian Peggy Jenner and Past President Diane Roeser-Kinney will also serve on the Board.

“My term as president has been the best year of my life,” said Diane Roeser-Kinney, 2011-2012 President. Diane passed along a two-dollar bill to incoming president Pat Disney as a symbol of the importance of togetherness and the friendship all members share.

A common theme at the meeting was a desire to increase local awareness, understanding and growth of the organization. Roeser-Kinney emphasized the need for everyone in the club to work on their “elevator speech” in order to quickly and succinctly tell other women in business about the structure and mission of the organization whenever someone asks them “What is a Soroptimist?”

“To have the name Soroptimist on the lips of everyone in town is important to the continued growth of our club.” said Pat Disney, incoming President. “As we continue to attract more members with diverse talents to our organization, we will increase the positive impact we have on our community.”

The new 13-member board was praised and given a standing ovation by enthusiastic members. “The women on this year’s board are very dynamic and bring so much varied experience to the club and the work we do in the community. It really makes me thrilled and proud to be a member” said Michelle Santos, Marketing Manager, Belfor Property Restoration.

The organization is planning two community outreach events in the coming month. Disney and several other SISLT members plan to ride in the organization’s “Fighting Chance” child safety program demonstration vehicle during the south shore’s Fourth of July parade on Wednesday and members will work the concession booths at the 23rd annual American Century Championship, Celebrity Golf Tournament in July.
